Discussion 41

Welcome to another discussion round! It is a pretty straightforward game where I give you a question that you'll answer in a new comment for two random cards. Since this is a discussion, don't be shy! Feel free to comment on other player's threads too~

This week's discussion is...

"Do you like video games? If so, what genre/type is your favorite?"
(Example: I'm not nearly as much of a gamer as I used to be when I was younger due to time constraints, but I still enjoy video games very much whenever I get in the right mood! I'd say my favorite genres are RPGs, platformers, and VNs [as long as I really manage to get into the story lol], with a side dish of survival/horror across all these.)

Have fun everybody! You've got until December 1, 2013 to comment!

I like classic point-and-click adventure games and jRPGs, mainly! I also enjoy some platformers, some visual novels and some strategy games. But yeah Monkey Island is like my favorite game in the world and I have all the feelings for the old adventure game genre and I'm trying very hard not to start rambling so I'll just say two words... Broken Age ♥♥♥♥♥♥!!11

I do, but I don't have much time for them. I like RPGs and turn-based strategy games, and I'm trying to learn how to play real-time strategy games like Starcraft. I'm not so good at things that require time pressures or coordination. Despite this, I adore the Zelda franchise.

I do like video games though I find it pretty hard to finish them (my backlog is staring at me... guilt tripping me...) which is why I generally stick to visual novels in my old age. It's hard to die/do something wrong when all you have to do is read and have the story takes care of all that for you. Having said that, when I am motivated enough, I do enjoy games that involve puzzles/solving mysteries and shooting people in the head.

I love them to bits. I've learned that if it's not on a portable system though, I'm more than likely to not touch it. In general, I'm like Ankari and prefer visual novel type games, jrpgs, point-and-click. THE EXCEPTION THO IS MONSTER HUNTER. I am not sure why but Monster Hunter is just so darn amazing to play.

OH AND IF YOU HAVE CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION, I WILL PLAY YOU.

I haven't done any console gaming in ages, but I like to mess around with casual games on places like Kongregate all the time. I also love visual novels, I think my favorites as of right now are A Profile and School Days, but there are some other excellent ones out there. And I have all the Sims 3 expansion packs, though World Adventures is the most addictive, for sure.

What's your Kongregate ID? I log on occasionally these days but have random spurts where I play it daily to chase badges. XD Mine is etsukobot if you'd like to add me!

I like video games! I'm mostly a lazy ass though, so my 3DS is my favorite thing. I like RPGs and whatever... Nintendo games are categorized as. XD I'm really not that good at video games, so I don't like it if they're too hard. My favorite game is The World Ends With You! I really like Kirby's Epic Yarn and Luigi's Mansion too, though~

I play all kinds of video games! The only genre I play less of is FPS because I tend to get major motion sickness headaches from the first-person perspective. I also suck at platformers as the scrolling system makes me dizzy too. My favourite genres would be puzzles/escape/RPG, as I'm a sucker for storyline and for riddles to solve. Ghost Trick, Ace Attorney and Zero Escape are my favourites. For MMOs, I prefer to play games with both solid PVP and PVE (just one or the other won't do it for me). I also enjoy dance games to de-stress and to keep fit :)

+1 to FPS making me motion sick. :( I can handle it sometimes if I'm just watching someone else play, oddly enough, but I think that might be because I can look away when it starts to make me dizzy.

I love video games, even though I don't play them much nowadays. I especially love japanese, anime styled RPGS and games like Tekken, Soul Calibur, BlazBlue, Pokemon and Digimon and so on. We Love Katamari is one of my favourite games but it's very hard to say which category it belongs to. ^^' Also Eyetoy games are super fun, especially in a group. I'm also very interested about otome dating sim games but I haven't played them much (yet).

It's in my plans to get myself a ps3 for my birthday next month.

I'm most in for the rpgs and platformers.

Right now I'm hooked up on pokemon x that I'm playing obsessivly when i get 5 minutes of time to do so. But MY FAV are the Kingdom Hearts series (favorite one is the one for 3ds the Dream Drop Distance), but I like other games too. For example I'm a sucker for Castlevania, and then I love also stuff for parties on the wii like the karaokes and the just dance stuff =)

I like video games but only specific types: Visual novels, simulation and riddle/puzzle games are the ones I tend to play. Among my favourites, there are the Ace Attorney series, Fate/stay night, and 999. I also enjoy the Super Mario games but I suck at all other genres. /coughs

I recently got back into video games, and I've gravitated hard towards JRPGs, mostly because I really like long, involved plots -- though I do tend to get tired of the constant fetch quests which can grate on the nerves. I'm also really into the 07Expansion visual novels as well!

VIDEO GAMES 8U I LOVE THEM

Ahem. Um, I mean, I was a gamer waaaay before I was ever into manga or anime. I'm mostly into JRPGs, because that's my thing; the first game I ever played was Final Fantasy VI. But overall… I play lots! I'm actively terrible at most other kinds of games, like… I have exceptions, but I am pretty terrible at adventure games/timing games/survival horror/what have you. That doesn't mean I don't have my exceptions-- I've played Okami through approximately a million times (okay, more like five), and I love Ghost Trick even though I'm terrible at getting the puzzles timed correctly without dying a ton. I also love the Fatal Frame franchise, because I don't really count it as survival horror; for some reason, the camera mechanic, even though it's timing-based, works much better for me than… well, any other battle mechanic I've seen/tried. And Fragile Dreams, kyaaaa.

I also really enjoy text-based games like Zero Escape, Ace Attorney (Ace Attorney Investigations being my favorite; I'm still so upset that they haven't brought over Ace Attorney Investigations 2, because it is amazing), Hatoful Boyfriend, Gakkou de atta Kowai Hanashi, etc. I also enjoy quieter games-- I haven't played any of the Rune Factory games but the first, but I really enjoy just relaxing with that game and not having to fuss too much over what I'm doing. And RPG-wise, there are a few western RPGs I really enjoy, with Dragon Age 2 being top of the list at the moment.

I also really enjoy more casual flash games like Gemcraft and hidden object games and… yes. I just really like video games. \o/ I could probably talk even more, but I'm going to shut up now because wow this is like 300 words already.

I'm not much of a gamer because I just don't have the time or attention span for them, but I do enjoy a couple I've played—though for the plot more than the gameplay. I... I'm not a very good gamer, truth be told. I tend to lean towards RPGs and such when I do play them.

Oh, I do read VNs more often, though! I just tend to not really consider those "games" so much, since the ones I tend to read have little to no gameplay aspect to them...

I really like Video games! Enough that my work resolves around them now ahahaha. Umm, My favorite types of video games are Horror based. Anything with monsters and such (Biohazard, Silent Hill, anything of that sort.) Tho, broken record here, I feel that catagory is somewhat dying now. A lot of the horror games out there focus to much on First-person experience to bring out scares, and it doesn't work for me. Others work on Shooters too. Its just bland for me, I wish for the experience I had when I was 7 and playing these games! A lot of older Visual Novels I do like tho. One game I had as a kid was called 弟切草, it was really good I think (tho the story is a bit lame now, its still have that dark feel I like in games.)

I (kinda have to) Play all types of games tho! I also like RPG games, some shooters, alot of puzzle and action games too ^^

I do like them but yeah, I find myself having less and less time for them as the years go on, sadly (I seem to be turning into one of those people who watch LPs more than actually playing the actual games orz). My first love will always be JRPGs because that was what I grew up on, but I also have a soft spot for vns/dating sims and casual-ish type games? For the former, like everyone else and their grandmother, I'm following dangan and for the latter things like harvest moon and endless ocean can eat up a huge chunk of my time (farming and scuba diving is srs business ok).

I like survival horror as well but because I'm a huge scaredy cat I don't so much as play as get other people to so I can lurk around behind my pillow and shout at them haha

I'm not much of a gamer myself. but I really enjoy playing pokemon on the gameboy back in the day XD currently, I still don't game much except maple story. I don't really follow too much of the story back info in the game. OH! but because of my obsession with shingeki no kyojin (WHERE ON EARTH WAS I?! HOW COME IT TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO FIND THIS AWESOME SERIES???!!!!!) and there is a Nintendo 3DS game coming up..... I WANT A NINTENDO 3DS CONSOLE!!!!!!!!! yes, JUST TO PLAY THAT ONE GAME AHAHAHAHAHA. eh, wish I was a kid now so someone can get me that for christmas :x

oh oh OH! I just remembered I own a PSP console as well because I loved patapon at a point in time ;p

I love video games, though I don't play them very often anymore since my attention span and free time are both pretty limited. Horror games are definitely my favorite, though I'll always have a soft spot for platformers and JRPG games, albeit I rarely have the patience for the latter anymore. Most recently I've been enjoying RPG maker games more than anything. There's just so many good ones out there, and they've filled the niche that smaller game companies used to in being experimental and doing things that won't appeal to the mainstream (albeit I don't blame game developers entirely for this shift as video games cost a fortune to make now.)

Nice question! Well, I definitely gravitated towards action and turn-based JRPGs when I started playing videogames a few years back, but since then I've started trying out other genres and I'm liking puzzle/escape ones more and more. I like the idea of horror games, but I haven't played that many to say that I'm really into the genre. I like platformers and fighting games but I'M BAD AT THEM SOBS.

Lately I've been mostly playing Umineko though and I'm really interested in checking out move visual novels.

I love jRPGs and third person platformers (specifically games like God of War, Devil May Cry series, Bayonetta, etc) best! First person shooters are fun sometimes, but I tend to get a headache from the camera swivelling around if I play them too long, so it keeps my enjoyment of them at a minimal :(

I also do a lot of MMORPGs, with my main one being Guild Wars 2 at the moment.

I LOVE THEM EVEN IF I'M BAD AT THEM

i'm gonna talk from a japanese game point here instead of general (i love a lot of western stuff too), but i've always been better at strategy or mystery games. it's hard for me to think up what to do on the dot, like what final fantasy seems to be more like recently. that's probably why i haven't been touching the last few games, i get too nervous

but if i have the time to think and get things done in my head, i shine! recent examples would probably be fire emblem, ace attorney, and the persona series. i'm also really competitive on smash bros and mario kart but lol who isn't

I used to play a lot Mario Bros (clasic one) andt Heroes of Might and Magic Saga but I'm afraid I'm not into videogames that much.

I like the strategic ones: Civilization, Age of Empires. Yes, you can call me a dork XD

I'm not too big on video games but when I play I can't stop until I've finished the entire thing. I enjoy RPGs the most, like Final Fantasy. Though I do play a lot of harvest moon/rune factory and pokemon games more, but that's because I can bring them around with me on my handheld hahaha
