Yet another announcement...
We have made several announcements in the last few days, but this time, I come as the bearer of bad news: unfortunately the January deck release is not going to happen. It was a really hard decision to make and I would really like to explain our reasons so you know why it seems the best course of action for Marge and me.
When we delayed it the first time was due to us being at our parents' house in our hometown and having less time to work on TCG stuff than what we usually have when we're not with family. We were also planning to come back to the city where we live and study on the 4th which clashed with the original release date, but we weren't able to find bus tickets until the 8th because they were sold out before.
Marge's laptop fell and her hard drive crashed and it's out of commission for now until we take it for repair. We got home yesterday afternoon after a 20 hours bus ride and that's why we haven't replied to some stuff. We usually don't like to talk about our personal lives here because they are irrelevant to the game, but we also have until the end of January to move out of the place where we live and we haven't found a place yet, we start a new semester on monday, work the next weekend and we got messages from a couple mods who are going on hiatus because they also have their own stuff going on. We definitely understand when real life gets on the way and right now it got in the way for us. We don't want to have the TCG on hiatus and although we are a bit stressed, we want to keep everything running as smoothly as possible and sometimes that means we have to sacrifice some things, in this case the release.
Do not panic though, the release that was set for today will be moved to February 1st (we're sure we'll have it ready by then, but if we had delayed this another week and then have another release in February, I think it would've been too much work for us). January slots from the event will be available for pick up then even if the coupon says January. Also donations will not open this month (we had forgotten about opening them because of our trip, but then we thought it was for the best not to when we decided about the release). To make up for this regular donations will double in February for the March release. Which means everyone will have 4 deck donation slots and then if you have a donation benefit or a Christmas event coupon, that will not double but you can use it. We are currently talking to potential deckmakers to cover the potential amount of decks.
To make up for the amount of card count players are losing, we will refer again to the handy randomizer for randoms. You can pick up 8 regular random singles and 1 random special. Leave what you picked up in a comment. We honestly never thought we would give out randomized cards twice in a month, but this certainly was an unexpected thing for us. I hope you will understand our decision and that no one will be angry at us. We want to keep Pairings active because we love it and for the sake of the players who play in it. We like to make players happy too and by not delivering, we think we disappoint, but we're sorry to say we didn't think there was another option right now.
The current release will be taken down from sticky but it will still be open for new members and latecomers until the next release is up.
Finally I want to add something a bit unrelated: the benefits we proposed in the previous announcement will be added to the current benefits list along with their tasks in the next couple of weeks. Also we would really like more volunteers to help us out as back up moderators. If anyone has time available to post a game or two or even reply to comments, please check this post. Sorry in advance if some things are a bit slow for now, we'll try our best to get everything running the best way as soon as possible.
