Players of Pairings TCG:

I won't beat around the bush. This entry marks the time for Pairings to go on indefinite hiatus. This decision was discussed and made yesterday, so that's why it comes so suddenly, but Dan and I agreed that this is for the best right now. There are many reasons why this is happening and I'd rather not disclose them because they are of personal nature, but this is the only solution I can think of right now. We're both very sad and we apologize to players and staffers both for choosing to do this now and quickly, but I don't see the point in keeping things open with a hiatus/closing notice, so that's why all games and services will be stopped immediately. Comments posted to services before this entry will be replied to, but game rounds won't be.

The reason we will reply to services, it's for players to log these in case the game comes back at some point. It is our intention to re-open Pairings in the future because both Dan and I have a lot of attachment to the game and there's still many more decks we'd like to collect (things we donated last release, for example), but there's no date set as of right now (hence the indefinite). I will discourage trading during this hiatus, but if you want to trade, it's not prohibited. I also recommend that you keep your cards in case you're interested in coming back in the future since we agreed that if we re-open, players will be able to keep their cards.

We really thank you for all the support you've given us for the last 3 years and for your constant feedback and interest in our game. I never thought it would last this long, but when we opened, I never thought there would come a day when it would stop either. I must also apologize deeply to players who recently joined: I didn't give you enough time to enjoy my dear game, but we really can't keep it going any longer for now.

As a last comment, I'd like to offer you a non-official/placeholder mastery badge that you can use if you'd like to have some completed decks with something akin to the mastery badge. These "masteries" will be able to be formalized (with the same image or another) if the game re-opens. You may get this template here.

I hope you won't feel to let down and we'll be sure to contact all current players to gauge out interest if/when we get a re-opening date.

A friendly reminder of some deadlines! You have until March 1st to donate decks for next month's release! You also have until March 1st to turn in a mini-mastery or leave a wish in the Valentine's event post. Finally, you have until February 28th to leave your comment in Jojo's Bizarre Quest for one of those awesome prizes!

Hello Pairings players!

The Christmas games are now closed, though you still have time to ask for your coupon if you played all games. 2015 is filled with new beginnings and Pairings is joining in with a few revamps. Thanks again to the players who gave us suggestions in the latest poll, we've considered lots of them for the new things that are coming.

First off let's kick off with the games: we're planning to have a lineup of 12 weekly games (only 10 will be active at the moment until we decide that to implement for the last 2), 6 biweekly games and 4 monthly games. Rewards for most games have been updated with a few exceptions. Reactions and Word Search will be retired as games and Pick a Pair will come back as a biweekly game. Discussion and Freebies will now be weekly games and Assemble will be on hiatus for a couple of months. There will be a new monthly game introduced towards the end of the month in place of Reactions, Dan and I are quite excited about it! If you have any game ideas that we can implement, you can share them with us!

Now onto services and other stuff: we have increased rewards for all type of donations (images for decks and graphics) but we also introduce an extra perk for players who donate: you may pick up a card from your donated deck from the release on top of your freebies! Trading Achievements rewards have been increased a bit as well as getting an extra card from Singles Claim weekly. We have added a new card pack to the Shop and you may purchase it every two weeks. This summarizes all the changes we have made for the upcoming year, hopefully you'll like them!

Deck donations are currently open and won't be closed until February 1st (though players who donated in December may donate again!) because all donations will go to the February release. Unfortunately due to lots of things going on because of the Holidays and other personal stuff, we didn't get to make a deck release for this month, but we bring you freebies nonetheless! The previous deck release will be open for freebies until February 7th.

You may pick up one card per each letter in HAPPY NEW YEAR. Only one per deck and the card must have the letter somewhere in the filename. You may also pick up 2 special cards, one number 20 and one number 15. These can be different special decks or the same. Please leave a comment with what you take.

Hello Pairings players!

As always, I hope you're enjoying the game and thank you for continuing to make this TCG possible. I address you today because Dan and I are concerned about something that's been happening recently and you might have noticed: releases are a bit scarce in terms of deck number. We've been able to maintain the number above 50 and I think that's a reasonable number, but this month the number of donations has been very low (so far at least!) and with the date of donations closing so near, I wanted to know if you have any suggestions as to what we can do as owners to either promote donations, incorporate something else or even have an alternative to monthly releases.

I really want to make the game as enjoyable and fun to players as possible and we're trying to look for ways to boost activity in general so if you have any suggestions regarding that or any other aspect of the TCG, you can bring it up here too. Please take a bit to reply to this once you see it, we really need your help.

Hello players! I have a few announcements to make, first off, due to the low number of donations and also because I'll be travelling on the 9th and I need to make lots of preparations for the trip, the release will be moved to the 13th. This means donations will close on the 8th and players will have until then to donate decks. Besides this we are still low on donations for the current member of Assemble. If you have donated to the deck already but would like to donate one more image, you now can as long as it fits the theme.

I will also like to announce we'll have our usual Christmas event starting on the 15th so look forward to it! I definitely am stoked for the upcoming event :D

On another note I'd like to thank all players who voted for Pairings for the TCG awards in the Spring round! We were awarded the "Best Old TCG" award so thanks a lot! We're really happy that Pairings has been around for so long and we hope we can keep it up until everyone has had their fair share of collecting haha. Even if sometimes things get slow, it's good to have a solid player base and Dan and I are happy to share our happiness with you.

A new round will be done for Winter this year and we have already been nominated for the same category we won in the last round so you can check out the nominees here in case you'd like to check out the other categories and make note of the voting date. We will have a reminder during that time anyway.

On top of that I'd also like to say that right now we're looking for one more mod to join us in the staff, you don't need photoshop dexterity or experience (though some basic html is helpful!) so if you'd be interested in filling the position, shoot me up a private message. Those are pretty much all the announcements right now! I hope you look forward to the event and if you wanted to donate some decks but haven't had the time, you get an extra week to do that!

A gentle reminder that you have until Saturday November 15th to fill out the form and claim prizes for the Halloween event at the event closing post!

I'm happy to announce that deck donations are open for real now! On Monday I completely forgot, I'm sorry. Besides that I'd like to remind all players who are participating in the Halloween event that they will have a chance to play the games until Saturday since all games close on November 8th.

I regretfully inform you that the September deck release originally set for today will have to be pushed back for a few days, possibly a whole week because Marge's laptop charger died while she was on a trip back home and she forgot her replacement here. Due to this she hasn't been able to finish her decks. She can borrow a computer to hand out event prizes, but it doesn't have Photoshop. These are her last tasks as staffer and she wants to take care of them herself, but it will take some time. We both apologize for the situation and we hope that things will fall back into place smoothly once this passes.

She will be back on Thursday and I'm sure she'll try to get to things as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding. During this time deck donations will open as scheduled and the upcoming list will be updated so you can see the decks that are already finished.

To make up for the delay, please take 2 choice cards and comment here with the names.

EDIT: Deck donations for the October release are now open. You can also see all the finished decks for the September release here.

We have 6 more leftover spots over at Assemble 25! If you haven't donated to this round yet, you are invited to do so! If you have already donated, you may donate another image. You would get rewards for both of them but you'd only be able to pick one of the two from the upcoming deck release.

Hello again, everyone! Thank you for your continued support and for providing with your opinion about the hiatus. After a lot of thinking about your suggestions, Joyce and I decided to set things like this:

-Hiatus will be from June 5th to July 5th

-Release will be moved to July. Admittedly, we considered this better after reading your comments since it makes sense that this would help raise activity up when we come back. The current release will be OPEN until the next one is posted.

-All services will be closed. I initially thought to have some services open and mods were willing to take care of them, but perhaps this will mean an excess of backlog for the other services when they come back. Thanks Stareyes for pointing this out, it seriously didn't cross my head. (The only exception is sign ups)

-Regular games won't be posted during this time. This is mostly because we can't keep track of things and even though we trust our mods will do a great job, since we probably can't reply quickly if we're contacted, we'd rather think of another plan to provide cards. All games currently should close on their regular closing date!

-Special freebies will be posted once a week for four consecutive weeks. We'll give out a number of random + 2 choice cards each Saturday starting on June 7th.

This is the plan we've come up with! I'm sorry if this isn't what you had in mind, but we'll have the summer event just a little bit after we come back so I hope you can be excited for that. Thank you so much for your patience!

I have a couple of announcements:

-We're in URGENT need of moderators! We need two people to help us out with a couple of games and 1 service (the shop). If you have some knowledge about Photoshop (or any other image editing program) that would be a plus but it's not mandatory! Please PM me if you're interested.

-There are still 5 spots open at the current Assemble! The theme is sports, please help us complete the deck: current round here

[personal profile] suguro
It came to my attention today that there's a mistake in the assemble post, as it says that only members who didn't donate to the previous round can donate to this one, but that rule is currently disregarded since there isn't a big influx of images like before. long story short: anyone who is a member can donate to the current round!
Sorry for the inconveniences this confusion could cause.

Hello Pairings players!

This is just a reminder that the Anniversary Event Shop will close on May 1st and all event currency will lose its worth after then, so get your purchases in while it's still up and working. There will be no extension after this date!

We're pretty stoked to announce that Pairings TCG has been nominated in several categories on the 2014 TCG awards weeee!! To whoever nominated us a big THANK YOU! We're very excited to be a part of the TCG world and that players recognize our work and enjoy our game. We were nominated last year but the awards were never finished because Christina had to go on a hiatus so we're excited that this year we get to appear too.

So you can check out the nominees here and you can vote here!. You may want to check some of these TCG out as well if you desire to do so! You can start sending your votes in if you enjoy Pairings and want others to know about us! Voting will close on May 25.

Hello everyone!

We've included a new card pack at the shop (card pack 07) that lets you buy random special cards! You can use your usual random packs currency in case you have too many of them. Since we keep releasing special decks and so many show up in games, we thought a new way to get them was in order.

Besides that we're also now allowing players who have quit/were deleted and rejoined to re-master their mini-masteries if they participated in either (or both) of the events where this activity was available. There are instructions in the masteries post, but I will echo them here: If you collect the same cards you previously used for your mini-mastery and turn them in at the masteries along with a link to your mini-mastery comment that proves those are the cards you used and your new logs proving that you re-collected them, your mini-mastery will be validated and you'll be able to claim the badge again as well as get the same rewards given in the activity for your work.

If you have any questions about either of these announcements, drop a comment here!

The activity check was done in the last few days and today all members with no updates after February 1st have been moved to the inactive list. The next activity check will be 2 more months from now and hopefully we'll be able to keep it on schedule. Messages were sent to all the members who were moved to inactive list so they know what they can do to change their player status.

During this activity check though, we noticed that some players do not have their logs linked in their main posts and I'd like to request to all these members to add a link to their logs since sometimes it took a lot of clicking to check whether card post was updated or not and so on. Also, please keep in mind that DATES AND GAME/SERVICE NAMES NEED TO BE ADDED TO THE LOGS!! If you hadn't been including these before, you don't have to go back and edit them in, but it'd be great if you started doing it from now on. Rules on logs may seem too strict, but there are reasons for this and if for any reason cards are lost, a very detailed log can help you.

Also, please remember to apply for information change when you change the place your post is! We find deleted/locked/outdated posts sometimes linked in the members list and it turns out this is not the same one the player is using, I think I updated a couple links for some players, so they may see their new posts in the members list without having to apply to the info and status change post, but please try to remember to do this if you move your posts again!

Well, it seems these are tradition now... Although the release was supposed to go up last night, for various reasons I will be delayed until tomorrow or the day after that at most. Sorry for the wait!
yokatta: (yugi)

We still have 10 spots left in the Valentines deck and 5 spots left in the Kiss deck at Assemble 20! If you haven't participated yet, please do, we would like to fill them up with donated images. If by the 27th there are still empty spots, a player who donated for one of decks (either kiss or valentines) will be able to donate a second image to the other deck. Rewards will be given accordingly for the image donation, but the player will have to choose just one of the two cards to pick up from the release.

We have made several announcements in the last few days, but this time, I come as the bearer of bad news: unfortunately the January deck release is not going to happen. It was a really hard decision to make and I would really like to explain our reasons so you know why it seems the best course of action for Marge and me.

Finally I want to add something a bit unrelated: the benefits we proposed in the previous announcement will be added to the current benefits list along with their tasks in the next couple of weeks. Also we would really like more volunteers to help us out as back up moderators. If anyone has time available to post a game or two or even reply to comments, please check this post. Sorry in advance if some things are a bit slow for now, we'll try our best to get everything running the best way as soon as possible.
