Players of Pairings TCG:
I won't beat around the bush. This entry marks the time for Pairings to go on indefinite hiatus. This decision was discussed and made yesterday, so that's why it comes so suddenly, but Dan and I agreed that this is for the best right now. There are many reasons why this is happening and I'd rather not disclose them because they are of personal nature, but this is the only solution I can think of right now. We're both very sad and we apologize to players and staffers both for choosing to do this now and quickly, but I don't see the point in keeping things open with a hiatus/closing notice, so that's why all games and services will be stopped immediately. Comments posted to services before this entry will be replied to, but game rounds won't be.
The reason we will reply to services, it's for players to log these in case the game comes back at some point. It is our intention to re-open Pairings in the future because both Dan and I have a lot of attachment to the game and there's still many more decks we'd like to collect (things we donated last release, for example), but there's no date set as of right now (hence the indefinite). I will discourage trading during this hiatus, but if you want to trade, it's not prohibited. I also recommend that you keep your cards in case you're interested in coming back in the future since we agreed that if we re-open, players will be able to keep their cards.
We really thank you for all the support you've given us for the last 3 years and for your constant feedback and interest in our game. I never thought it would last this long, but when we opened, I never thought there would come a day when it would stop either. I must also apologize deeply to players who recently joined: I didn't give you enough time to enjoy my dear game, but we really can't keep it going any longer for now.
As a last comment, I'd like to offer you a non-official/placeholder mastery badge that you can use if you'd like to have some completed decks with something akin to the mastery badge. These "masteries" will be able to be formalized (with the same image or another) if the game re-opens. You may get this template here.
I hope you won't feel to let down and we'll be sure to contact all current players to gauge out interest if/when we get a re-opening date.
