Hello everyone, Marge here! It is regretful for me to inform you that I'll be stepping down from my position as Pairings co-administrator, mod and deckmaker starting this month. The reason for this is that I have other stuff I want to concentrate on fully and it's not fair for Joyce or you that I don't give it my all. But don't worry! The TCG will still fuction as always and I'm going to be around as a player, so it's not a goodbye or anything. Dan will now become the new co-owner, so feel free to contact Joyce or her for anything from on now.

I'm very glad I managed to participate as co-mod for this project for this long and working to make it fun for all of us was my pleasure! Thank you everyone for putting up with me and please support Joyce and Dan from now on. Some stuff might be delayed or slow, but please be patient! They're trying to organize everything so that the community runs smoothly again (:

Due to the lack of deck donations so far, we've decided to extend the period of donations until August 2nd and the Deck Release will be pushed to Saturday, August 9th.
Feel free to donate decks or to ask others to donate for you! The more decks we can amass, the better.

We already found two new mods, thank you so much for the help! However I'm the bringer of bad news because another staff member has to go on urgent hiatus and both Joyce and I are really busy with real life things. We can definitely deliver the next release, and a lot of things are not run by us so others can take care of them, but we can't promise to keep on top of everything since our jobs and school take priority here. We've kept the TCG running for 2 years without a hiatus because we know it could make players lose interest, but we're really considering this possibility knowing the tough situation we're in right now.
What we want to do is do a one-month hiatus from June 8th to July 5th, but we're not sure how much this could effect on the TCG activity once we come back... The least thing we want is for players to lose interest so we have a proposal: Would you prefer if we go on full hiatus until July or would you rather have some activities available until we come back? We're looking into the possibility of still posting games or having weekly freebies instead. If you have any other suggestions, we're definitely open to them!

Mods: would you be willing to still do your duties even if the TCG goes on partial hiatus?

One thing would be sure: deck donations, masteries and level ups would go on hiatus during this period. It's really important for us that all players at least have a say in this! Please leave your opinion and help us decide what would be best for the community. We know a month seems like an awfully long time, but we're sure that by then things will be more calm for us and we will be able to focus more on the TCG. Sorry for this, I hope you all understand and can still support us!

Yosh! I'm done with the new benefits and both badges and tasks lists are up in the benefits list! There have been some small revamps to the benefits rule (I added a note to reflect the fact that trades count only after you turn them in the trading achievement service, for example!), so if any of you was interested in any of these new benefits, you can go to the benefits post and start working on them now!

Now that that is done, we will continue with the site update of rules, links, error reports and other things, sorry we've taken so long to work on this, but the situation is barely slowing down for us now! We'll keep working as much as we can to finish this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!

Besides that we are making this post a space for our player base to give us feedback on how things have been running lately or what kind of things you'd like to see in the future in Pairings. You can also inquire as to what has been decided/done/discussed about whatever suggestion you may have made to us in the past, publicly or privately. There are many things we would like to work on, but we also want to keep our players happy and through your suggestions and feedback, we will decide what is priority.

We really hope all of you will participate in this discussion so Pairings can continue to grow as a community and a fun place for all players. We are open to all kind of suggestions and feedback, positive or negative and we will appreciate your honesty.

We would really like if more players gave us feedback on how the TCG is running now. Is there anything you'd like to be changed, improved or reworked? We're taking all concerns, suggestions and feedback you would like to give us!

This post will be sticky for a few days instead of the release! Once we close it, the release will go back to sticky. You can find the release by using the !release tag.

I bring really bad news: despite the fact that we wanted to post the release yesterday, it was impossible as some of us were still working on decks. Decks are done now, but due to time issues, I can't post the release until Saturday. I'm really sorry for this and I'll make sure it doesn't happen again. Thank you for your patience with us.

Hello, everyone! I just want to let you know that the October deck release will be delayed for a couple of days, so it will be posted on October 9th instead of this Saturday. We apologize for the delay, thank you for your patience with us!

Hello Pairings players! I bring you here the second part of the rules we're changing starting August 15th. This is a little later than I wanted to post, but I was eaten away by six-year-olds I was very busy with my job in the last two weeks. Like before, these rules have already been added/changed in the respective posts and site sections! Please read the whole entry and if you have questions about these new rules, feel free to voice them on the comments. link to pt.1 here!

These rules are always subject to change, just keep in mind that if/when we change them players will be notified!
I want to mention that for the rest of the month I'll focus on compiling all the questions and making a FAQ page in the website where players can easily clear their doubts. It might take a little while for it to be up, but please be patient and thank you for your support so far (:

Hello Pairings players! I bring you here the first part of the rules we're changing starting August 1st. We're still revising things so keep in mind these are not the only rules that will be changed, we just decided to post these as soon as possible as we feel they are the most pressing matters at the moment. The next set of rules will probably be posting on the first week of August, thank you so much for your patience with us.
These rules have already been added/changed in the respective posts and site sections! Please read the whole entry and if you have questions about these new rules, feel free to voice them on the comments.

new rules under the cut! )

Additionally, I haven't checked players logs, but I want to remind everyone that the rules at the trading achievement require players to number or count the trades! So just in case, make sure you're doing this to make the Trading Achievement's mod's work easier.

Lastly, I want to make a note on the fact that an administrator from another TCG is putting together a TCG Wiki page where she lists everything related to TCGs, including players. If you wish to contribute, feel free to sign up! The page is here. Some of you might be listed on the Wiki already. Please know that we didn't have previous notification about players from Pairings being listed here! If you prefer to not be listed, I have contacted Sheva asking what you can do in those cases, I'll edit this post later to add that information! EDIT: I was informed that it's possible to leave messages at the Wiki so you can opt out there or you can also contact Sheva through her email: loveloveburd@gmail.com

EDIT 2: It seems that some of the players are hotlinking cards from the Pairings server in their card posts, this is against the rules! if it's impossible for you to find your own server to upload the cards, please use our mirror, don't hotlink from the website.

That's all this time around! Please keep an eye out for the second part of this update which will be posted next week.

Bad News

[personal profile] suguro
Hello, guys! Right now I am the bringer of bad news: sometime during the weekend, my laptop's screen decided to stop working and I'm not sure what's going to happen with my laptop now. I'm sure players have noticed I haven't closed my games rounds, sorry for that. Anyways, these bad news also mean that right now I can't post anything, not games and not the release because I haven't even finished my decks.

Sorry for saying it like this but right now I'm more worried about my semester because I have 4 take-home finals to finish (two for today and two for tomorrow) and I want to turn everything on time so I'm rushing to finish things from Joyce's laptop. The TCG will be a little neglected (at least for this week). Joyce will reply to anything urgent! About the release, it will be delayed for another week, probably. I'm really sorry about this, guys, this doesn't mean the community is going on hiatus or anything, but things will be slower. Thank you for your patience and sorry for all the inconveniences.

EDIT 06/03: I got a diagnose about my laptop and it's a fact that my screen in damaged, so I'm not really sure until when I won't have a laptop (repairs are really expensive, so yeah...). I'll be handing out my games to other mods so there are less delays and I will finish my decks on Joyce's computer, which means the release WILL be posted a week from today. Thanks a lot for your support on the comments, it means a lot to me (:

Hello, everyone! Thanks a lot for your input on our possible changes~ We've reached a decision regarding this and I thought it would be fair to let the players know as soon as possible.

+First off, the idea of implementing automated games was approved and supported by many, so we've decided to include this in addition to our existing games. However, since we think the amount of cards we give is fair, we've decided to take down a game to include automated ones. The game that will be cut is Pick a Pair, sadly. Don't worry, though, players will be rewarded similarly in the automated games. This will likely be implemented around mid-March!

+Also, We'll up referral rewards to 4 cards starting March! Many people agreed that this wouldn't hurt and we definitely echo your opinions in this aspect~

+Lastly, regarding the deck releases, most players were against the idea of having such a large gap so we've decided to continue doing what we have been doing so far. The only difference we'll have now is that players will be allowed to claim cards until the day the next release is up and not the last day of the month.

We received a lot of really interesting ideas, but we sadly can't accept all of them. A couple of players brought up the possibility of upping deck donations slots, but truly I think it's best if players who want to donate more decks ask for open slots on the trading community, for example, since other players have them available. It would seem unfair to me to give more rewards to some because they have special donation privileges... not to mention that the +1 deck donation benefit would kinda lose its purpose.

Now a couple of important announcements:
+The Valentines Shop is now closed! Thank you so much everyone who participated in the event and I hope you enjoyed it. Wait patiently for our next event, our First Anniversary, in April.
+I'll be traveling next weekend so I won't be able to post the release on March 2nd! The release will be moved to March 5th, since I'll be done with my semester on the 4th and I will be able to concentrate on the TCG fully.
+Deck Donations post will close on February 26th! You still have a chance to donate decks if you want to (:
+VOTING IS OPEN FOR THE TCG AWARDS! please participate and vote for your favorite TCGs~ You can vote here.
+Right now there's a little delay with Masteries because Joyce got a new computer this week (last one died at the beginning of the month). She'll take care of the backlog this week, thank you for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.

Any questions regarding the changes? Feel free to comment and I'll get back to you ASAP!

I hope you aren't tired of seeing me around, but I promise this is the last update I make this week! Please read this, it's important!
This time around I'm bringing up a couple of issues and ideas Joyce and I have been discussing in the past month to see if we can improve the community even more and make it as fun as we can for the players!

I'm not sure if you have noticed but we've had two kinda serious issues in the past couple of months: one would be an activity decline (some players have gone inactive, others have quit) and as a consequence of this, every month deck donations decrease more (thought other factors have affected donations, too). Don't get nervous, we still have enough activity to keep going, but we have thought about some new ideas that can make things better in the long run. These are some of the ideas we have:

-To prevent activity decline, perhaps we can integrate new games in our repertoire. I would prefer to avoid over complicated games, but I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any!

-Perhaps we can up referral rewards to encourage players to invite others or make temporary special offers to tentative new players to interest them into joining. Please tell me your opinion on this, it is a good idea or not?

-Lastly, regarding the lower number of donations we've getting, the idea we've considered the most is spacing out the releases to one release every two months. We have thought about this mostly for two reasons: it will give players a bigger time-span to collect the decks they have in higher priority so they can concentrate on new decks every two months, and if we start getting more donations later, this idea might prevent the TCG from growing too big, too fast now that we're almost reaching our first year as an active TCG.
Of course, this big change will bring up other changes: if it's accepted, this new release system will be implemented immediately. This means this month's donations will be released in two months (in this case, in the first week of April) instead of next month.
Additionally, players will get more donations slots monthly and of course, more release slots a well. Please give us your thoughts on this as it is really important and we'll make a decision based on the opinions we get.

For your opinion, you can pick a choice card! please tell me in your comment what you took.

This entry is open until February 23rd! Thanks in advance for the feedback~ CLOSED!

The community seems a little bit slow lately, but sadly it might become a little bit slower on my part (I mean my games and updates, specifically) since I'm flooded with school assignments for the next two weeks and I need to take a step back from TCGs for a bit. This doesn't mean we're on hiatus or anything, the rest of the staff will be working hard, surely! I will try to post my games and give out rewards as timely as possible, Just please be patient with me and I'm sorry this is on such a short notice.

The release won't be delayed, thankfully, but I haven't had the chance to update the upcoming list, will definitely do that during this week after the decks are finished! The activity check will be done on the second week of February since I'll have a small break then and right now I sadly don't have time. Thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconveniences this might cause.

Hello, everyone! This is mostly to inform players that there will be some shifting around on the staff duties to fill in some holes and improve our work in the community! so if you see mods changing jobs, don't be surprised! I also want to let everyone know that before the beginning of February there will an activity check! So please keep your posts up to date if you don't want to be placed on the inactive list. Players on the hiatus list won't have to worry about the activity check, but I will contact you to see if you're still interested.

The February release will be on the 2nd, so we're closing donations on the 27th to have enough time to finish the decks, you still have a couple of weeks left to donate decks! I have also added the rules regarding Digimon and Pokemon decks to the deck donations post, sorry that it took me a bit, but the details are there for anyone who wants to donate those decks. I will try to update the upcoming list this weekend as well as other things on the site like member cards and any other details on the information.

Lastly, I want to interest everyone into nominating your favorite TCGs for the current TCG awards! In that page you can see all the available categories and current nominees. You can nominate a TCG here. Don't be shy and participate~
this is all this time around, have a great week!

I hope everyone is having wonderful holidays! Merry Christmas to all of you~

I want to let players know that deck donations will close on December 27th! Since Joyce and I will be travelling back home on the following weekend, the deck release will be posted on the 2nd or 3rd of January. Due to lack of time on my part this month, I won't be updating the upcoming list before the release, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

All Regular games will start on January 1st! Mods, expect further instructions regarding your posting dates soon! Last, but not least, I want to give [personal profile] kuku a big welcome, she has now joined Pairings' staff as a game mod so please look forward to her rounds!
suguro: (open your eyes)
[personal profile] suguro
First off, I want to give Grey ([personal profile] orophias) a warm welcome to our staff! Starting next week she'll take over OTP Battles and Swapping! I hope you look forward to her rounds.

Now onto the main reason for this update! After a lot of discussion, Joyce and I finally reached a conclusion about the Pokemon and Digimon mascots deck donations. They are as follows:

-For Digimon:
+One Digimon per partner, this is pretty self-explanatory and logical, I think.
+The images should be of just one form, the Rookie form. For master badges, any form can be used.
+We will only accept partner-digimon collecting! digimon-digimon collecting won't be allowed.

-For Pokemon:
+One Pokemon per trainer ONLY! This can be any of the most prominent Pokemon trainers have in the series (I've noticed that in the anime trainers usually have two prominent.) This is first come, first serve! After a Pokemon for a trainer has been donated, we won't accept another, sorry. It was very hard to make this decision, admittedly this is what delayed it this post, but we think this is the best way to approach this.
+Images should be of the Pokemon's basic form and only this form can be used masteries because evolutions are different Pokemon.
+We will only accept trainer-pokemon collecting! pokemon-pokemon collecting won't be allowed.

I'm sure this seems a little strict, but we decided this while thinking about what would be best for the community. I hope everyone understands. As of today, Pokemon and Digimon can be donated as long as they follow these guidelines. I'll make sure to add these extra set of rules to the Donations post during the weekend!
suguro: (partners in crime)
[personal profile] suguro
Hello! I hope everyone is doing great~ I have some good news - my laptop problem has been resolved today (got a new laptop in the end.) As everyone can imagine, the release will be delayed a week, so it will posted on October 13th instead of today. Deck donations will be open again on October 8th! So keep an eye out for that. Expect a huge update on the upcoming list on Monday, tomorrow I probably won't be working on anything Pairings-related as we are having elections in my country and I don't even think I'll be home. About the opinions I asked on the last update (Digimon and Pokemon decks), Joyce and I haven't reached a decision yet, but we'll be onto that after the release is up since that's our top priority right now. Thanks everyone for your patience and also a big thank you to the mods who kept working hard to keep everything on the site/community going while I was away, you guys rock!

Update 005

Aug. 18th, 2012 06:54 am
suguro: (the demon inside you)
[personal profile] suguro
I didn't think I was going to have to post a new update almost a month after the last one, but a few changes on the community have been made and I think it's fair enough to inform everyone!

First of all, I want to give a warm welcome to [personal profile] seravi and [personal profile] hijirikawaii who are now part of the deckmaking staff! I also want to welcome [personal profile] radria who is now part of the moderators staff as a back-up! She'll be helping out around the community with services and game relief and doing some tuning on the site. I'm happy to have you all aboard and hopefully you'll enjoy working with us in the community as well!

Now onto the changes:

-MASTERIES: a new rule has been added to the masteries service! To make it easier for Joyce to reply to everyone's masteries, we have decided to put a 10 masteries limit per comment. This means that if you turn in more than 10 masteries, you'll have to fill out a different comment for the 11th. Please guys, cooperate with us and try to follow this new rule as best as you can!

-DECK DONATIONS: I also added a new rule to the deck donations post! Since we've had donations in the past that include icons or other images that are too small to work with, the minimum dimensions an image from your image pack can have from now on is 200x200 pixels. I know sometimes it's hard to find big images or high quality images for certain characters, but there are cases where I know for a fact that it's possible to find decent sized images and we still get really small ones and that lowers the quality of decks. Please keep this in mind when donating! Of course, I'm also open to consider cases in which some images smaller than 200x200 pixels can be used for the deck (if it's impossible to find others) but please consult it with me first!. I hope you guys understand why this measure was applied and please try to follow it!

-BENEFITS: a new benefit has been added to the benefit section to replace the Lottery benefit as that game has been retired from the community. The new benefit is +1 random potion x every 45 game rounds and you can read all the details here

-SEPTEMBER RELEASE: okay, this announcement is not about new rules or anything, I just want to let everyone know that for this release, there will be a 1 week delay. As many of you know or have gathered from previous releases, we have the habit of posting the release on the first Saturday of each month. However, given that the first Saturday will be on September 1st and Joyce and I will be busy with personal matters in the last week of August and part of the first week of September, we've decided to post the release on September 8th. This means that the deck donations post will be open until August 31st! So you have until that day to donate decks.

Okay, that's all this time around! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to voice them here~

Update 004

Jul. 20th, 2012 07:54 pm
suguro: (trapped in a maze of relationships)
[personal profile] suguro
Well, it's been a little while since the last update and I have a few announcements compiled together here, so please read the entry carefully! Joyce and I have been a little slow replying to things because our net has been acting up for the last couple of days, I'm sorry about the delays, but please bear with us for a little more since I'm not sure when the net will start working properly again. Anyways, onto the announcements:

SITE UPDATE: for various reasons I couldn't work on the site update until last week but masteries and levels should be up to date! If you see any errors in your information, please let me know. A group of members that haven't updated since the end of May have been moved into the inactive section; I will try to contact these members to see if they're still interested in continuing playing! If there isn't any reply from them or any update on their site by the end of August, these members will be deleted from the members'list. Lastly, the upcoming list will be updated on Sunday! Sorry that I'm taking so long updating the list, hopefully next month the upcoming list updating will be more regular.

DECK DONATIONS: the deck donations post for the August release will be open until July 30! Please remember to donate your decks before that.

TANABATA SPECIAL: Congratulations to Grey as her wished was picked for the Tanabata Special! Thanks for all the wishes you guys shared with us, some suggestions were really tempting and original, I appreciate a lot your interest for helping the community improve! Anyways, her wish was to get 1 extra card from all the games for 1 month, which I find quite helpful for all those players who want to level up quicker next month; however Joyce and I have decided that 1 extra card from ALL the games posted during the month would be a bit too much, so we have decided to split it this way: 1 extra card from all the weekly games for 1 of the rounds posted in the month, 1 extra card from the bi-weekly games (for swapping would be 1 extra exchange for 1 week) and 1 extra card from the monthly games. I find this to a reasonable enough prize, I hope you guys enjoy this little gift! This will be available from August 1st until August 31th!

NEW ADDITION: We received several suggestions in the Tanabata Specials that Joyce and I discussed to see if it was possible to integrate any of them in the TCG permanently and the one that seemed more appealing was the posibility of collecting OT3s! We will open a new service with all the guidelines for this on August 1st, but to give a general idea, if people decide to collect a three-way pairing (let's say glasses-flirt, transfer-flirt, transfer-glasses, for example) in addition to their pairing mastery badges, they can apply for an extra badge for the OT3! Besides the badge, there aren't any extra rewards, guys, this badge would be more like an achievement badge for completing the OT3 than anything else and it's only for fun and to proudly brag about your OT3, hahaha. Hopefully players will enjoy this addition and will be up to the challenge of collecting their favorite OT3s!

CARD FIXES: Right after the release we noticed that the deck 'unlimited' had a couple of cards where the images had an unusual aspect ratio. Joyce changed the images for the cards unlimited01 and unlimited08 so if you have these cards in your post or your image hosting service, please change them! You can grab them here

I think this is all this time around! Seems like August will be a really hectic month with the new service and extra prizes, enjoy all this, guys! If you have any questions or concerns regarding the things I said here, feel free to voice them! If you prefer to have a more private conversation, PM me anytime and I'll try to reply to your concerns to the best of my abilities.
