Discussion 70 [SPECIAL]

Welcome to another discussion round! It is a pretty straightforward game where I give you a question that you'll answer in a new comment.

Since this is a special round, you can earn yourselves some additional cards! I'm going in a new direction for this special round and am posting two discussion questions plus a question. Answer everything, and you'll get a pretty good reward!

1. "Is there an anime (manga/video game) that you wholeheartedly believed you would not like but decided to watch (read/play) it anyway and found yourself enjoying it? If so, what was it? If not, is there a series you sat down to watch, thinking you'd enjoy it but did not?"
(Example: Assassination Classroom. Read the description, assumed I would not like then I was bored a few nights ago and decided to watch it - because it's pretty popular - loved it. I am actually reading the manga now. Flip side: Watched Uta no prince-sama, couldn't get through the first episode. I really thought I'd enjoy it (pretty boys singing, what's not to like?) but yeah, wasn't for me.)

2. "What was your first TCG? What appealed you to joining pairings?"
(Example: First TCG for me was Photographs, which is no longer around. My best friend harassed recommended me to join. As for pairings, Marge told me about her idea before the game opened and I fell in love with that idea. So I demanded I be included (whining was involved) and I wore her down. So here I am :D)

The Question: How are you finding this game: discussion? Would you prefer it to be more vague (leaving room for any way interpretation)? Do you maybe prefer if I do a theme each week and players can build upon that? Or is it fine the way it is? Is there particular topics you don't want to see included in rounds? Etc, etc.

For answering one discussion question, you will get the regular rewards of three random single cards and one special card. Answering both discussion questions will get you an additional 2 choice cards (only 1 can be a special). If you answer the question, you will get 2 random single cards. So you can get a grand total of 8 cards but you have to answer everything provided. Leave your choice cards in your comments!

Have fun everybody! This round ends on Wednesday March 18th 2015.

1. I had the same experience with Uta no Prince-sama, oddly enough! How can one series that seems so appealing in concept be so not in execution... To answer this question, I honestly thought I'd hate Haikyuu despite liking the character designs. I tend to get bored and frustrated with sports anime, as a lot of them just tend to assume you already know everything about the sport and just go from there. Haikyuu completely captivated me from the start, mainly due to the heart the characters had and also the fact that they explained all the volleyball terms pretty much at the start for noobs like me. Now I'm a genuine sports fujo.

2. My first TCG was Anime LJ TCG! I didn't last very long, but it was fun for a time and something I'd never done before. I drifted away due to moving issues and school and stuff, and by the time I came back it was closed (rip in kill, etc). I forgot how I discovered Colors, but I joined that after a time, and the rest as they say was history. I was appealed to join Pairings because... tbh coding ship decks over at Colors was a pain in the ass, plus there were no special rewards for doing it. Pairings scratched the itch I had to show everybody my terrible, terrible taste in romantic relationships. Aren't you guys lucky.

The Question: I'm really bad with feedback questions, but I honestly think discussion is fine the way it is. If there's a round I don't have an answer or anything to say for, I just skip it. If I had to say something negative about it, I generally skip answering questions that are like "Crossover X with Y!" because I never have anything particularly witty to say about that...

I'd like stoic03, stoic07, thank you!

1. Not really anything on the "watched it but I thought I'd dislike it" end of things; I'm usually pretty good at guessing how I'll feel about a series.

As far as expecting more than I got, I was incredibly underwhelmed by Black Bullet. :B

2. dhsfbdjh That was no long ago, I have no idea what my first TCG was. X_x But I joined pairings because I am a hopeless shipper and friendshipper who really liked the concept!

The Question: I love this game the way it is! It's fun to answer - no questions really come to mind that I disliked.

cook01, cook02 please!

1. Actually I can't think of a series right now, I actually never watched anything I didn't think I wouldn't like or would like. I mostly set my brain on zero and watch a serie. I think I am one of the few persons who doesn't like Naruto, I tried watching it but never could get into it and gave up untill some giant frog appeared or something idk.

2. The first one I joined was Anime LJ TCG, that is like way back. After it stopped I looked a few times if a new one appeared but nothing and gave up. I was doing my working experience and I was kind of bored then I thought back at the other game and I wondered maybe now other games like that existed. I started looking around and then I found pairings and decided to join and now I am still playing~

The Question. I love this game, it is interesting to read what other players think about certain things, it also let's you get to know the other players better. But half of the time I am actually scared to respond to other... I think easily that people don't like me ^^;; I like how it is the way it is now ^^

as for the choice cards; co-op03 and lost08

1 - lmao this is difficult to answer b/c it's really difficult for me to actively dislike series. Usually it's just hype aversion (Shingeki no Kyojin last year, everyone on plurk talking about Steven Universe right now sob) and if I wait till shit dies down so does my irritation/bias :V and I don't really start series that look unappealing to me anyway. Um...AKB0048, maybe? It looked fucking ridiculous and like a blatant attempt to cash in on a real band's popularity but I ended up liking it and even rping from it good lord.

2 - Mine was Colors, only a few months before I joined Pairings here :B And I. Cannot remember why, really, I think I was just hopping on the TCG bandwagon with everyone on plurk at the time and COLORS ALONE WASN'T ENOUGH, GOD.

The Question: I am also p good with how things are! I, too, just skip questions that are hard to answer lmao.

oh, and I'll be taking bow09, bow10

1) Code Geass °-° (Code Geass fans don't kill me) I was sure I'd like it since it had Clamp design and robots! But I truly forced myself to watch all season 1 and I never watched season 2...I didn't like the characters so much and maybe I expected it better than it was.

2) My first TCG was Collage and I really loved it...sadly it's not active anymore so after a while I looked around in my friends trade post to find a nice anime/manga/game related TCG where I could enjoy my OTP and I found pairings.

The question: I like this game as it is °-° I enjoy the questions and I don't find them too specific. I don't have always a lot to say but I'll try to reply anyway u.u

1. Oh I have an example of each for this question! For anime: Fullmetal Alchemist and Eureka Seven, which I watched pretty much at the same time. I was actually reluctant for many years to watching FMA because I thought that it would be one of those cases in which the series is overvalued by the fans or something. I decided to watch Brotherhood on a whim thinking that I wouldn't like it all that much, but I did and now I think that it does deserve the fame it has because it is indeed good. For E7, it was the opposite. I wanted to watch it since I thought I would like it because of the ships, the mechas and the action, but it came to a point where I couldn't stand it anymore. It's not a bad anime, just not my cup of tea. For manga: One Piece, definitely! I had though that I would never read it because first, Luffy used to scare the crap out of me for some reason and second, because it was too long. But then I started to read it and it was the best decission I've ever made I tell you. I now love it, it's one of my favorite mangas haha. Video games: Umineko, umineko, umineko... I once SWORE I'd never EVER play it, but I did and I loved it. And it was awful because I hate losing face haha, but I don't mind anymore because it was awesome XD. I'm glad I didn't let my pride get in the way because I would have missed out on it.

2. High five o/ Photos was also my first TCG! I joined because they made a deck for Yamazaki from Gintama and I wanted to collect it lol. For Pairings, I was roomates with Marge and Joyce when they were in the planning stages and pretty much throughout the whole process. When it opened, I obviously joined though I thought I wouldn't last long in it because I wasn't that much of a shipper back then haha. Three years later and I'm still here lol I'm even co-head now.

3. I like the way it is now! I find that the questions are usually very interesting and I like answering them. It's also one of the few games that I actually can play so even if the question is hard, I try to answer it. I also like that you take the time to read what the players say and comment accordingly :)
